About Napiers: Napiers are Scotland's oldest apothecary, dating back to 1860. Their founder, Duncan Napier was abandoned within hours of his birth & taken in by an innkeeper & his wife, who beat him & treated him like a slave. At the age of 9, he was apprenticed to a baker & found himself with a cough triggered by the flour dust. He left home at 15 & began to attend Scientific Botany classes in search of a cure for his cough. His interest in herbs grew when he joined the Edinburgh Botanical Society & developed his famed Lobelia Cough Syrup. Nowadays, Napiers supply herbal remedies to people the world over & continue to follow Duncan’s dream “to provide an affordable choice of natural health care for all people”. They remain true to their past, developing combination herb formulas (known as the tonic herb principle) to treat the whole person & the whole body.
